We Love Baseball
Everyone in our family have been baseball fans for a long time. From the major league all the way down to select-travel ball, we love to take in a baseball game whenever we can.

When my son Adam turned 8, he said he wanted to play. He tried out for a recreational league team and learned the game as much as a kid his age could. Over the last 6 years, he’s developed into a very solid player with aspirations of going to college on a baseball scholarship. He currently plays for an invitation-only, travel team based out of Waco. Even though he’s only called two teams, “home” over the last 4 years, Adam has played pick-up games for several teams in the Metroplex. He is a left handed pitcher, first-baseman, and outfielder.

Minor League Baseball
Because minor league players typically don’t make a lot of money, the team relies on “host families” to house the players during the season. Since many players come from around the country, and even the world, members of the community can open their home to provide them a warm place to sleep and a sense of family while they’re playing ball. Hosting players has been a tradition in minor league baseball for generations.
Professional baseball made its way back into Johnson County in the spring of 2017 with the return of the Cleburne RailRoaders. To continue the host family tradition, the RailRoader’s front office was seeking families in the community to host players. It was our honor to be the Cleburne RailRoaders very first host family and provide a place to stay for Mitch Glasser, now an infielder now with the Gary SouthShore RailCats in Indiana.
Because of the positive experience we had in 2017, we’re hosting another player this year. Tyler Wilson, a pitcher originally drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2008, is staying with us this season.
